Spiritual Cinema Circle Films
The Tea Cup:
A cinematic haiku that tells the story of the life, death, and rebirth of a teacup, that poetically teaches a young boy the value of life. His challenge is to reconstruct a solid foundation after a fatal mishap shakes his sense of self. Written and directed by Matthew Pristave. 5 min. Gabriel: This sweet, short film asks the question “where do we go when we die?” from the innocent perspective of a child whose ant dies. After listening closely to his mom’s answer, Gabriel goes to great lengths in caring for the soul of his ant, making sure it gets into heaven. Reflecting the pure love and sweet innocence of childhood, this film transforms death into a miracle. Directed by Cherie Knott, written by Janine Burchett. 11 min.
Passengers:
A subway car in New York, where no one will look anyone else in the eye, is the last place on earth you’d expect a connection to take place between people. In this particular subway car, the universe drops a little humor and hope into the air, changing the environment for everyone. Directed by Joseph T. Walker, written by Daniel Fisher and Joseph T. Walker. 8 minutes, no dialog
The Hired Heart:
Penelope Ann Miller stars in this light romantic comedy about a woman in the midst of getting on with her life two years after her husband has died. The only doctor in a small mountain community, she’s the town’s most eligible bachelorette, but the last thing she wants is a new man in her life. To fend off the town’s efforts to marry her off, she goes to extreme measures to prove that she is happily involved in a romance of her own. As fiction turns to fact, she is forced to face the reality that she hasn’t yet moved on at all, giving us a lesson in letting go. An inspiring, sometimes farcical, foray into love that has the power to awaken the romantic in all of us. Written by Jeff Elison, directed by Jeremy Kagan. 90 min.
